Stereo Mix missing after Windows 10 upgrade [Solved] I had a Dell Windows 7 computer and after upgrading to Windows 10, I don't have Stereo Mix under recording devices. Apparently I need a new driver because I have 'Show Disabled/Disconnected Devices' checked. Aug 03, 2015 Windows 10 Audio and Stereo Mix I am testing on and posting from a Lenovo laptop that has an Analog Devices Soundmax soundcard. The initial install provided audio that worked OK for the basics of recording from the microphone and playing back though the speakers. Before in my upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7, I was able to use both my plugged in microphone and stereo mix options for recording devices interchangeably at different times (i.e. On Teamspeak either my microphone was selected or Stereo Mix was). On the first install of W10P, I found the Microsoft generic driver was installed, and the on-board sound worked fine for recording and playback, but 'Stereo Mix' was not available. The latest drivers on the Lenovo site were the Vista drivers for the Analog Devices audio.
Ever need to record something on your computer exactly as it comes out of your speakers? Enabling “Stereo Mix” will let you do exactly that, and here’s how to do it.
Nowadays, most sound cards have the ability to record whatever is being output. The only hang-up is accessing that recording channel, which can be done rather easily.
Enable Stereo Mix
Go down to the audio icon in your system tray, right-click it, and go to “Recording Devices” to open up the proper settings pane.
In the pane, right-click on a blank area, and make sure both “View Disabled Devices” and “View Disconnected Devices” options are checked. You should see a “Stereo Mix” option appear.

Right-click on “Stereo Mix” and click “Enable” to be able to use it.

How To Install Stereo Mix In Windows 7
In some cases, your audio chipset drivers aren’t helping your cause. Most likely, this is because they’re outdated. In other instances, however, it’s because the newest Windows drivers for your chipset don’t support this feature. This was the case on my Asus Eee PC (a 1000HE), but I got around the issue by downloading and installing the older Windows XP/Vista drivers for my audio chipset. As always, before changing your drivers, make sure create a system restore point in case things don’t go as planned.

How Do I Use This?
With “Stereo Mix” enabled, you can open up your favorite recording program and select that instead of your microphone before you record. If you don’t see the option, or your program doesn’t give you the ability to change the recording device, you can disable or unplug your microphone and make “Stereo Mix” the default recording device.
This works well for when you want to capture audio for a screen-sharing session, or record audio from streaming sources–such as live web-casts–that don’t necessarily allow you to download content immediately. In order to do that, you’d open up your audio recording application of choice (like Audacity), and find the option for microphone input. Select Stereo Mix as your input (if it isn’t already), be sure other recording devices are muted or disabled, and click record.

Since I am an artist that also does music, most of my stuff I can do in OSX with garageband etc, and ignite, There is no FL studio for mac, only in windows. Also sometimes I like to mix in two tracks I made and exported to mp3 on the fly with audacity if they have same keys and similar chords and beats with a text-to-speech voice. Since it is rather awkward in OSX since it too does not have a stereo mix function, which one needs sound flower. But when using sound flower , the recording is silent, which reduces record/play by ear to reduce error in the recording process. Since it is awkward in OSX, i thought I would use stereo mix in windows... but discovered i cant get it in windows 7 on bootcamp. My last resort is windows xp with vmware, to do this sort of thing... But how do i get stereo mix ? where can i get the complete drivers for the Cirrus Logic CS4208 ? as in my old PC there was the same thing with windows 7 but it had real tech chipset, and downloading the complete driver fixed the issue.
